Privacy policy

There are no accounts on this site. The only personal information we collect is the email address you give us if you sign up for alerts.

Email alerts

If you sign up for free season and rule-change alerts, we store: your email address; the places, species and alert types you picked; whether you've confirmed (we use double opt-in, so nothing is sent until you click the link in our confirmation email); the dates you signed up, confirmed or unsubscribed; and, as a record of your consent, a shortened IP address (the last part removed) and the first part of your browser's user-agent string. Links in our emails use random tokens; we store only a one-way hash of them.

We use this only to send the alerts you asked for. We don't sell or share your address. Emails are sent through Cloudflare Email Service, which processes your address to deliver them. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link; after you unsubscribe we keep your address marked as unsubscribed so we never email you again. To have your record deleted completely, email us. Later, alert emails may include a clearly labeled sponsor message; we will never give advertisers your address.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are useful. Google may set cookies and process your IP address and device information under Google's privacy policy. You can block it with a browser extension or Google's opt-out add-on.

Maps

Map tiles load from OpenFreeMap, and the map library loads from unpkg.com. Those services receive standard request data, such as your IP address.

Email

If you email us, we keep your message only to reply and to fix the issue you report.

Security and abuse

To stop abuse of the signup form, we briefly keep a one-way hash of the IP address and email used for each signup attempt (deleted after 24 hours) so we can limit repeated requests.
