Region-wide daily quotas copied from the Vancouver Island section of the 2025–2027 BC Freshwater Fishing Regulations Synopsis, and checked against the full provincial synopsis. Water-specific regulations, closures and in-season changes are not repeated here — check the official regional PDF and the in-season changes page before you fish. If anything here disagrees with the Province of B.C., the Province is right.

Possession quota is generally 2 daily quotas — see the synopsis for exceptions. Salmon are managed by Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

BC Region 1 – Vancouver Island daily quotas

  • 1 over 50 cm (2 hatchery steelhead over 50 cm allowed, see table for exceptions)
  • 2 from streams (must be hatchery)
  • And you must release:

  • NOTE: There is no general minimum size limit for trout in lakes or hatchery origin trout in streams.
